![]() ![]() Luckily we have a great guy called Swiss Halberdier, who gives up a lot of time and resources to these forums and creates and manages the "Unit Pack Compatibility Project or (UPC)" What this does is amalgamate all new ".loc" files that modders create with their work, and puts them all in one big ".loc" file, so that we as users can use what ever mods we want and get the descriptions. Hope this helps you and others to explain the UPC betterThanks a lot for this excellent clarification That was really helpful! Hope this helps you and others to explain the UPC better It is one ".loc" to rule them all!! So my advise to you is simple, use the UPC and DO NOT use the locs that come with the mods unless they are not covered by the UPC. you can not have more than one ".loc" file at a time, so we have a problem. If you drop another unit mod into the game, you need the ".loc" file for that one as well, but wait. So if you add one new mod to the game, and it has a new unit, the author must also create a new ".loc" file for you to use. Skins replace existing ones in game, only mods that have new created units need text files or description. ![]() If you create/add a mod into the game that involves new units, you must make a new ".loc" file to use that mod or no langauge or text will appear. The game Empire TW uses a ".loc" or "localization" type file for its texts or langauge. The German UPC 2.2 file contains the descriptions and unit names of these mods: > This major mod will be updated to a newer version in the next version: TAR 2.0 - The American Revolution (ToonTW + Hip63) - upcoming MAJOR MOD COMPATIBILITY of the English UPC: Ashu-Siralis' Mughal Unit (Last of the Great Horse Armies) mod Megasalexandros' Preussens Gloria v 1.2 ![]() SonOfOdin/EB999's "Knights of Malta" (unit names) Ashu-Siralis "Mughal mod - Last of the Great Horse Armies" md1453's "US Pioneer Raiders+Militia, Kentucky Mounted Riflemen, US Rifles units, Legion of US squares" Okmin's "Sikh mod 1.1" (submod for Darthmod)" Geronimo2006's "Denmark Startpos description entry" Geronimo2006's "Portugese Startpos description entry" Geronimo2006's "Portugese Units Pack 1.7.2" Bethencourt's "The Rebellion's Shipyard" Wolfgang von Zweibrücken's "Marines Mod 1.1b" Preussen Gloria's "Das Österreichische Heer 1.2" General Cornwallis "British Scarlet Dawn" General Cornwallis "French Warcry of the Republic" General Cornwallis "Prussian Rise of the Black Eagle" KTKG Units Mod 1.0 (Sir Digby Caesar + Ahiga) Jarnomiedema's "United Provinces Full Mod 1.1" Kungfuserge's "Pirated Mod Reloaded/Custer" The Great Spirit - Native American Addition Mod 1.2 or Sons of the Dannebrog v0.5 (these mods can not be used together at present) ToonTotalWar's "Continental, British, Hessian, Spanish, French and Indian Armies" Danova's "Ornamentum 1.1 + 1.2 + 1.3 + 1.4 + Northern War - Poltava" contains the complete final localization of the last patch and all DLCs for Empire " It is better to see at least an English text, as there would be otherwise just a blank text." There is a little rule in the UPC history. Please note that not all mods in each language are translated, but all custom entries are included in English and you can see at least English texts. It contains only the custom texts of the included mods. The UPC doesn't contain any mods and you must download the mods from the related sites. You can switch your language in the Steam options of Empire. Then you can see all custom unit names, descriptions and other texts from the included mods. Therefore this mod aims to create an universal localisation.loc file that can be used to make as many mods as possible compatible. Mods are not compatible if they all include an own language file which contains the file localisation.loc. Without the UPC you can not see these custom unit names, descriptions and other texts. Most of these texts are from Unit Pack Mods, Gameplay Mods and Overhaul Mods. The UPC project is necessary for all languages except English, because of added custom texts to the game by modders. ![]()
